The Department of Science and Technology of Liaoning Province recently organized the appraisal meeting of the scientific and technological achievements of "supercritical carbon dioxide anhydrous dyeing technology and engineering equipment" and "anhydrous dyeing of bulk fibers and clothing products" in Dalian University of Technology. The expert group led by Sun Jinliang, an academician of the CAE Member, highly praised the project achievements, and believed that the achievements would help relevant processes achieve pollution-free and zero emission cleaner production, reaching the international advanced level.

For a long time, the pollution control of textile printing and dyeing wastewater has been a difficult problem in industrial wastewater treatment, with serious industry pollution and high energy consumption. If this technology can indeed be effective in application, it will have a profound impact on industry pollution control and sustainable development.

In some provinces and cities in China, the printing and dyeing textile industry was once very developed and showed a highly concentrated development trend. However, due to the difficulty in meeting the standards for treating printing and dyeing wastewater, the cost is relatively high. As the country vigorously promotes water pollution prevention and control, a considerable number of printing and dyeing enterprises have been ordered to close due to severe pollution, leading to the decline of developed printing and dyeing industries in some areas. Therefore, if economically applicable treatment technologies that can help meet emission standards emerge, the printing and dyeing industry in many regions may regain development opportunities. Due to technical and cost issues, the operation and treatment effectiveness of pollution control facilities in many large printing and dyeing enterprises are still difficult to guarantee. When regulation is strict, emissions meet standards, and when regulation is lax, use is suspended. This situation is quite common in China. The water pollution pressure in the area where the enterprise is located is enormous.

When the end of pipe treatment of environmental protection is in a dilemma, vigorously promoting technological innovation to eliminate pollutants at the source should be the direction that industrial pollution control should strive for. And this requires not only the attention of environmental protection departments, but also the strong support of industry technological forces, forming a situation where different fields are jointly committed to environmental protection. Through industrial upgrading, the whole society can break through the bottleneck of economic development caused by environmental pollution, and truly achieve the goal of "coordinated development of economy, society, and environment".
